- PASTORAL COUNCIL
A faith sharing body whose ministry is pastoral planning for the
parish. They act as an advisory board to the pastor. Determine a
priority for addressing needs in the areas of: Worship, Parish Life
and Ministry, Christian Formation, Social Concerns, Evangelization,
Ecumenism, Stewardship, and pastors concerns. They recommend a plan
and provide appropriate background (purpose, timeline, financial
consideration, possible individuals or structure. Keep the
visionary, planning and recommending roles distinct from the works
of other councils and committees. Meets 3rd Wednesday of
the month in the office dining room.

FINANCE COUNCIL
An advisory body to the pastor, whose role is to review the total
financial situation of the parish, including the quarterly budgets,
comparative income/expense statements, extra-ordinary expenses and
annual audits. They assist in projecting budgets, propose ways
to provide funding for the parish, reflecting the mission of the
Diocese and assure that all parish expenditures reflect good
stewardship.
They meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each
month. Terms are 3 years, 1 or 2 consecutive terms.

SCHOOL COUNCIL
This group meets the first Tuesday of each month to discuss and set
direction for the Defiance Catholic School and are elected for one
or two terms of four years each.
STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE
We meet to introduce Stewardship to the Parish and works to make St.
John's a Total Stewardship Parish. We meet on the 3rd
Tuesday of the month in the office dining room. Term is a
three year committment.
LITURGY COMMITTEE
Assists in the planning and direction of our liturgies and special
feasts and penance services. Meets monthly during the 2nd
week of the month. Term is minimum of one year. Dave

MAINTENANCE COMMITTEE
Cares for the maintenance of all parish facilities including
grounds, church, parish life center, school and rectory. Core
Committee consists of members from school council, custodian and
office manager. Volunteers with electrical, plumbing, general
maintenance, construction and lawn care experience are especially
helpful. Individuals who can help with heavy lifting or snow
removal are also helpful. Contact Bonnie Nally at the Rectory
